Mark Farina Joins the Lineup for Sound Wave Block Party!
Thursday, September 19, 2013
Sound Wave Block Party is just days away and as the excitement builds, we are thrilled to announce that pioneering DJ and producer Mark Farina will be performing at the W Scottsdale stage at 2:00 PM this Saturday, September 21st.
Born in Chicago, the birthplace of house music, Mark developed a taste for the genre at an early age. Though he’s been touring around the world since 1989, it wasn’t until the early 90’s that Mark would begin to grow and hone in on his trademark style, Mushroom Jazz. A downtempo mixture of acid jazz, funk, disco and hip hop, when Mark first showcased this style to the main rooms in Chicago, he was demoted to the side room for playing too many Martin Luther King Jr. samples.
Mushroom Jazz, would later grow a legendary, cult-like following for Mark, as he would often DJ his two favorite styles (mushroom jazz and house) in separate rooms at the same party. Ranked as one of the top DJ’s in the world by URB, MUZIK, and BPM Magazine, seasoned veterans and newcomers all flock to his Mark’s house sets, which are always brimming with funky rhythms and chunky bass lines. Join us in welcoming the self-professed “modern-day traveling minstrel,” Mark Farina to Sound Wave 2013. Tickets are still available, so grab yours today!
